Rei Kashima (鹿島 麗 Kashima Rei) is a middle school student who attends an all-girls' academy three stations away from Roman High School. She is the younger sister of Yuu Kashima, and the friend and schoolmate of Yoshino.

Appearance

Rei has blue eyes and shoulder-length blue hair, tied in two small braids. She is typically seen wearing her school uniform, which is a top designed after the sailor uniform and a skirt that reaches down to her knees. She wears knee-high socks and shoes. She also wears a backpack to school.

In the Volume 12 cover, she is depicted wearing a long black dress with a collared white undershirt and an orange ribbon.

Rei has been described as a bishoujo (美少女 lit. "beautiful girl") by Umetarou Nozaki, Mikoto Mikoshiba, and Chiyo Sakura.

Personality

Rei is a proper young girl who constantly uses formal speech. Due to her lack of experience in the real world, Rei often assumes that any man and woman interacting with each other are dating, whether they're merely making eye contact or sharing food. She is also very polite, apologizing to Nozaki and Mikoshiba when she believed that she had interrupted an important conversation that they were having.

Despite attending an all-girls' school, she is able to interact with men normally, as male teachers are present in her school. She has high delusions of romance because of the manga she reads, particularly Let's Fall in Love.

Relationships

Yuu Kashima

Rei and her older sister have a good sibling relationship. Rei uses onee-sama (お姉様) when referring to her, and asked her to introduce "the most wonderful man" to help out Yoshino.

Umetarou Nozaki

Rei first met Nozaki and Mikoshiba when she was waiting at Roman Academy, informing them that she was trying to meet Kashima. The two assumed that she was simply a Kashima fangirl. Rei instantly assumed that Nozaki was a teacher, most likely due to his tall build and physique. When he attempted to clear up the misunderstanding, she then assumed that he was the school's groundskeeper, which Nozaki played along with by scolding Mikoshiba.

Due to Rei being a fan of Let's Fall in Love, Nozaki eventually told her that he was Sakiko Yumeno. He discovered that she truly was Kashima's little sister when he asked for her name to autograph a copy of the manga.

Mikoto Mikoshiba

Unlike her misinterpretation with Nozaki, Rei correctly assumed that Mikoshiba was a student. Upon the arrival of Yuzuki Seo slapping his back, she misinterpreted the situation and believed him to be part of a threesome involving himself, Seo, and Hirotaka Wakamatsu.

Mayu Nozaki

Mayu and Rei met in Chapter 114, near Roman Academy while they were waiting for their respective older siblings. Rei became interested in Mayu's pinning techniques and he explained it to her further with his drawings. Rei was impressed by his artistic skill, and insisted that Mayu draw judo poses with male-female couples, despite judo being a same-gender sport. According to Mikoshiba, Mayu looked worn out after interacting with her.

• Unlike most people, Rei instantly believed Nozaki when he told her that he was the creator of Let's Fall in Love.
