Summary[]
Hirotaka Wakamatsu meets with his basketball team for their usual lunch meeting. After they discuss various clubs related topics, the discussion always ends with their biggest problem of all- Yuzuki Seo. After many ideas, they conclude that they fastest way they can get her to change is to make her get a boyfriend. Wakamatsu is the one chosen to be her boyfriend, completely surprising him. However, after all the boys jeer her, she runs away without saying a word.
Wakamatsu shares this with Umetarou Nozaki later on. Nozaki concludes that just like an elementary school boy, she ran away from embarrassment when it came to her own romance. Nozaki deduces that this is the perfect time for Wakamatsu’s revenge—since she is not good with romance, he should confess to her and make her uncomfortable for a change. Although Wakamatsu is elated at a chance to get even, he realizes that he doesn’t want his first confession to be to her.
The next day on the train, Wakamatsu accidentally confesses to Yuzuki, asking her to also go out with him. Seeing her so ill at ease, he tries to come up with other nice things to say about her, but he doesn’t say much. She runs off before he can say anything else. Although he tries to see her all day, he is unable to find her. He despairingly tells Nozaki this the same evening. Nozaki comforts him that he may have missed his chance to get even, but it’s okay. Wakamatsu then tells him they have plans to go to the movies later on.
After the movie, Wakamatsu again tells Seo-senpai he likes her. She suddenly backs away from him. After he tells her it was a joke, she laughingly comes closer again. He realizes that this is the part about her that he really likes and decides not to share this weakness with the rest of the basketball team.
