It’s raining, and Chiyo Sakura and Umetarou Nozaki both carelessly forgot their umbrellas. As usual, Nozaki-kun starts coming up with different scenarios that he can use in his manga. For example, he thinks that all the girls would offer Suzuki-kun their umbrellas; it would end up looking like a cluster of beautiful blooming flowers. However, in reality when they both see girls surrounding Yuu Kashima in the same pattern, they realize that it actually looks like a cluster of mushrooms.
Nozaki states there must be a more dashing way to offer someone an umbrella. When Sakura is about to reply, Yuzuki Seo forcefully tosses her umbrella onto Sakura. Piqued, Sakura calls out after her, but Nozaki writes down some notes to use this “example” in his manga, although Sakura insists that he shouldn’t be deceived—she acted without thinking.
Sakura states they might as well use it since she lent it to them. Nozaki and Sakura use it to head home. Sakura envisions an “aiaigasa” (Japanese term for couples sharing and umbrella) event, but everything is pretty awkward in real life. Once she reaches Nozaki’s home, he offers her something to drink. He then suggests she should change her wet clothes. Shocked, Sakura insists she can’t since she doesn’t have anything to wear. Nozaki instantly offers her a uniform, telling an irritated Sakura that Mamiko will be wearing this in the next manga splash page—he would love to take pictures of Sakura wearing it.
Finally, the next day in school, Nozaki tells Sakura he drew some pages with today’s events in mind. An excited Sakura wonders how the manga scene turned out. However, when she realizes that Nozaki used Seo’s “umbrella tossing” for the secondary characters’ storyline, she wails that she lost to Yuzuki, shocking the latter.
